Social media can send buyers to your marketplace listing, but each network can also tie a seller account to you. Use a phone number and email no one you know has, switch off contact syncing, point people to your listing, not your messages, and keep payment on the platform.
This is for adults. If you are under 18, do not sell images of yourself anywhere.
In brief
Five things to know before you read the rest.
- Your phone number is the biggest leak: several networks suggest you to anyone who has it saved.
- Turning off contact syncing does not delete contacts the app already uploaded.
- A link to your listing is safer than a price and an invitation to message you.
- Snapchat bans sexual solicitation of any kind, including in private chat.
- Facebook expects your everyday name, so it does not suit a separate seller identity.
What can social media do for a seller, and what can’t it?
Social media can help people find a listing you already have; it cannot take a payment safely or protect you when a deal goes wrong.
The Social Channels page covers the wider picture: what eight networks’ rules say about suggestive content, how bans work, and why none of them holds a buyer’s money. This guide picks up where it stops. For the four networks people search about most, Reddit, Instagram, X and Snapchat, it answers the same four questions: what the rules allow, how a seller account can be connected back to you, how to point people to your listing within the rules, and the scams that show up there. TikTok and Facebook get a shorter section explaining why they fit badly.
The plan assumes you already sell on a marketplace that takes the payment. If you don’t yet, start with dedicated feet marketplaces; a social account with nowhere to send people tends to attract the people who are not buyers at all.
What should you set up before you post anything?
Give the seller account its own phone number and email, sign up with neither your personal Google nor Apple login, and turn off contact syncing on every device before you add the account.
Almost every way a seller account gets connected back to a real person on these networks runs through the same few details. Instagram says a confirmed phone number or email can get an account recommended to anyone who has those details saved in their phone. X and Snapchat work the same way unless you change the setting, and Facebook’s default lets it suggest you to anyone who uploaded your number or email. So a seller account opened with your everyday number can appear as a suggestion to your aunt, your coworker or your ex, without you syncing anything yourself.
Four habits close most of that. A phone number and email used for nothing else, which no friend, relative or workplace has. A fresh sign-up rather than “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Apple”, which ties the account to a login you already use. Contact syncing switched off on the phone where the seller account lives, then any contacts already uploaded deleted, because Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat each say switching syncing off does not delete what was already uploaded. And a profile photo, username and bio that appear nowhere else. The full checklist for photos, usernames and searching for yourself is in selling without being identified.
Reddit lets you post under a username with no real name, but every community sets its own rules on selling, and a username can never be changed.
What the rules allow. Adult content must carry an NSFW label, and Reddit marks a whole profile NSFW if you take part in NSFW communities. Reddit’s list of prohibited transactions names in-person, paid sexual services and personal information; for deals that are allowed, its help page says you trade at your own risk. Self-promotion is not banned outright, but Reddit’s spam guidance asks people whose posts are mostly links to a business they benefit from to watch how often they post, and its etiquette page suggests that one in ten of your submissions be your own content. On top of that, each community writes its own rules, and its moderators can ban you from that community. Read them before you post; many communities ban selling or links outright.
How it can link back to you. In some countries you can sign up with a phone number; Reddit lets you change or remove it later only while you still have that phone, and removing it means adding an email first. Usernames cannot be changed, and deleting an account does not delete its posts or comments. You can hide posts and comments from your profile, but Reddit says the hidden content stays visible in its communities and in search results on and off Reddit. Reddit allows more than one account, but its ban evasion filter flags accounts that appear related using what it calls a variety of signals, so a second account is not invisible to Reddit.
Pointing people to your listing. You can add social links to your profile, which keeps the link in one place instead of in every post. Post only where a community’s rules allow it, and treat the one-in-ten guidance as a ceiling, not a target.
Scams seen there. Reddit says it will never ask for your password or two-factor codes, and that official notices about your account come only from u/reddit. Chat settings let you limit requests to accounts older than 30 days, or turn them off, and new contacts can send one request before you accept.
Instagram allows non-explicit photos and links in your profile, but it limits who sees suggestive content and removes posts that offer contact for sexual or fetish content.
What the rules allow. Meta’s solicitation standard removes content that offers or asks for a way to contact someone for sexual content, and its list of what counts names sexual fetishes. Offering anything sexual with a price or any signal of a transaction is also removed. Links to adult subscription websites are not removed but are limited to viewers 18 and over. Separately, Instagram does not recommend sexually suggestive content to people who don’t follow you, and an account that keeps such content in its name, username, profile photo or bio can lose recommendations altogether. Since October 2025, teens cannot follow accounts whose name or bio suggests they are unsuitable for teens. Professional accounts can see where they stand under Account Status and ask for a review.
How it can link back to you. Instagram’s help pages say a confirmed phone number or email can get your account recommended to anyone who has it saved, and we found no setting that switches this off, so a number and email no one knows matter most here. Turning off Connect Contacts does not delete contacts already synced; deleting them is done from a computer, Instagram allows itself 90 days to finish, and suggestions can continue meanwhile. Turning off “Show account suggestions on profiles” stops you appearing on other people’s profiles. Accounts Center is the other trap: accounts in the same Accounts Center share information for follow suggestions across Facebook and Instagram, and Meta says that from early 2026 they can log into each other by default. When you add a second profile in the app, choosing “Create password” keeps it out of your Accounts Center. The Instagram map is off until you turn it on, but location-tagged posts can appear on it for 24 hours, so leave locations off seller posts. Activity status, which shows when you were last active, can be turned off too.
Pointing people to your listing. You can add five links to your profile, visible to anyone on or off Instagram, and a link sticker in Stories. A plain profile that says what you sell in neutral words, with a link to your marketplace listing, stays on the safer side of the solicitation standard. A caption that pairs a price with “message me” does not.
Scams seen there. Instagram lists people asking you to move the conversation off Instagram as a red flag, and says it never messages you about your account in Direct. About This Account shows when an account was created, its country and its former usernames, which is worth checking on any buyer. Hidden Words can send scam message requests to spam, but that setting is off by default.
X
X permits pseudonymous accounts and labeled adult content, but it bans promoting sexual services and shows the country your account connects from.
What the rules allow. X’s authenticity rules say you do not have to show your real identity, and that extra accounts are allowed when they serve different purposes. Consensual adult content is allowed if it carries a content warning, but not in a profile photo, header or live video. The same policy bans promoting or soliciting sexual services, and X’s creator monetization standards list adult content as a restricted category.
How it can link back to you. You sign up with an email or a phone number. Unless you turn off “Let others find you by your email” and “Let others find you by your phone”, people with those details in their uploaded contacts can find you and be shown your account as a suggestion; X’s suggestions also use the city or country you are in. “Remove all contacts” deletes what you uploaded and stops suggestions based on it. On a public account, About this Account shows the country your account is based in, or a broader region if you choose, which X works out from the addresses you connect from, so a seller account used from home shows the same place as your personal one. If X ever asks you to verify the account, it may ask for a phone number or email, so keep the seller ones ready rather than reaching for your own.
Pointing people to your listing. A link in your profile or posts is allowed; X’s rules target deceptive links that redirect somewhere unexpected and accounts that post little but bare links. Keep the link pointed at your listing, not at a redirect or a link shortener that hides where it goes.
Scams seen there. X says it will never ask for your password by email, direct message or reply. Messages from people you don’t follow arrive as requests, and media in them stays hidden until you accept. X’s help page warns that people you message can download and share any media you send, and deleting a message removes it only for you.
Snapchat
Snapchat’s rules leave very little room: they ban sexual solicitation of any kind, including subscription and chat services, and they apply in private chat as well as public posts.
What the rules allow. Snap’s community guidelines ban promoting, offering or soliciting sexual services, paid or unpaid, and name sexual subscription, chat and video services among them. Its recommendation rules say a moderately suggestive Snap that points people to another account, platform or site will not be amplified, and that Snap errs toward over-enforcing. Snap’s commercial content policy also counts promoting your own business as commercial content that needs a paid partnership label.
How it can link back to you. Snap asks for a phone number at sign-up, and people can find you by it unless you change the Mobile Number setting. Find Friends, the feature that replaced Quick Add, suggests accounts using contacts uploaded by you or by other people, so you can be suggested to someone who has your number even if you never synced; switch off “Who Can See Me In Find Friends” and use “Remove Synced Contacts From Snapchat”. Snap also says that someone who has your number saved may see the name they saved, not your display name. Profile photos are visible to people who are not your friends. Location sharing on Snap Map is off by default, but Snap says Snaps you submit to the map can still appear there whatever your location setting.
Pointing people to your listing. A website link on your profile needs a creator or business account. Given the solicitation ban, the honest answer is that Snapchat suits keeping in touch with people who already know where your listing is, not finding new buyers.
Scams seen there. Snap tells users never to share one-time passcodes or login links. In its own October 2024 research, 23% of the 13 to 24 year olds it surveyed in six countries said they had been victims of sextortion, on any platform.
Why are TikTok and Facebook poor fits?
TikTok works hard to connect accounts to the people who know you, and Facebook expects you to use your everyday name, so neither suits a separate seller identity.
TikTok. Its “Suggest your account to others” setting has three switches, all on by default for adults: contacts, Facebook friends, and people who open or send links to you. TikTok says it may still suggest you to people you share mutual connections with even when all three are off. TikTok uses your phone number to suggest your account to people who may know you, and even a private account shows its name, username and profile photo to anyone. Its rules prohibit sexual content, including content that directs people to adult websites or apps, and keep sensual content out of the For You feed. It does not allow multiple accounts used to evade its rules, and an account made to evade a restriction on another can be banned itself.
Facebook. Meta’s authentic identity standard asks people to create one account using the name they go by in everyday life, and Facebook says you can no longer create additional profiles. A Page does not need a real name, but you need a real-name profile to create one. People You May Know draws on contacts uploaded by you or by anyone else, and the setting that controls suggestions based on your phone number and email is set to “Possible Connections” unless you change it.
Discord, Telegram, YouTube and Pinterest are covered on Social Channels.
How do you send people to your listing instead of your messages?
Put one link to your marketplace profile where the network allows it, describe what you sell in plain words, and let the purchase happen on the platform.
On the networks above, the wording that causes trouble is the same: a price, an invitation to message you, and sexual or fetish language, together. A profile that names the marketplace and links to your listing avoids all three. It also means the people who click arrive somewhere with checkout, records and a way to report a buyer.
That last part is the point. A marketplace that processes payment sits between you and the buyer; a sale agreed in a social app’s messages has no one in between. How each platform handles payment is on its record: FeetFinder, Processed, not held; Feetify, Direct or through the platform. Every platform’s record is on Platforms.
Which scams start on social media?
The same ones that reach sellers everywhere, arriving through messages: buyers who want to move off the platform, fake payment screenshots, requests for “proof” pictures, and threats to expose you.
The FTC reported in October 2023 that one in four people who reported losing money to fraud since 2021 said it started on social media. Instagram and TikTok both name a request to move the conversation somewhere else as a warning sign. The full list of twelve scams aimed at sellers, with what each looks like in your messages, is in how to sell feet pics without getting scammed. If something has already happened, if it goes wrong has the steps and the reporting routes by country, and the everyday habits are on Staying Safe.
Questions people ask
Can you sell feet pics on Instagram?
You can promote a listing on Instagram, but the sale belongs on a platform that takes the payment. Meta removes posts that offer contact for sexual or fetish content, and Instagram does not recommend suggestive content to people who don’t follow you.
How do I sell feet pics on Reddit without being found?
Use a username, email and phone number that appear nowhere else in your life, and remember that a Reddit username can never be changed. Hiding posts from your profile does not hide them from the communities or search results where they appear.
Can people find my Instagram or X account from my phone number?
Yes, unless you take steps. Instagram says it can recommend your account to anyone who has your number or email saved, and X does the same unless you turn off its two discoverability settings.
Can you sell feet pics on Snapchat?
Not within its rules if the offer is sexual in any way. Snap bans sexual solicitation of any kind, including subscription and chat services, and the rule applies in private chat as well as public posts.
Should I use a second phone number for a seller account?
Yes. A number no friend, relative or workplace has is the simplest way to stop networks suggesting your seller account to people who know you, because several of them use saved phone numbers to make suggestions.
